Quick Start Guide
OVERVIEW – iPhone Case
This Audiocast Case is designed to improve the sound quality when calling to teleconferences & Audiocasts
THIS CASE IS DESIGNED FOR IPHONES
T o obtain the best audio quality when calling to Audiocast is by a phone with a headset. When 2 people call at the same time,
the traditional conference telephones pick up the speaker voices unevenly and allow background noise and echo through to the call.
Streamfabriken has designed this Audiocast Case as a solution to this problem.
The Audiocast Case connects two high quality noise cancelling headsets to an audio mixer for allowing the speakers to
adjust their microphone levels to the conference call and thus creating the perfect sound for Audiocasts.
CONNECTIONS
The Audiocast Case is almost ready to use when opening the lid. Only two connections are needed:
1. Electricity 220V with wall socket or USB power from a computer.
2. iPhone telephone connection with a “telephone headset” cable.
Headsets are already connected to the audio mixer. They are marked for “speaker 1” and “speaker 2”.
You can immediately make your first test call.
IMPORTANT about the mobile phone:
• ONLY iPhone should be used. Some Android models do not work.
• The phone should NOT be needed for anything else during the Audiocast
• Listening VOLUME should be at about 50% - 75%
• Turn OFF all sounds, alarms and notifications.
• Turn OFF “call waiting” tones
• Turn OFF WIFI and Bluetooth.
• Turn ON “do not disturb” mode
AUDIO MIXER - VOLUME
The perfect microphone level depends on the mobile phone model. Some phones send more volume to the outgoing call than others.
A test call is the only way of knowing the exact volume levels of your phone.
The audio mixer is pre-configured to an iPhone 5S volume level.
HEADSETS – MUTE
The headsets are marked for “speaker 1” and “speaker 2”. The microphones have an in-built high-end noise cancellation for reducing background sounds and echo.
It is still advised to mute the microphone when you are not speaking.
The headset is MUTED by lifting the microphone bar up. You’ll hear a small clicking sound.
Microphone is activated by lowering the microphone back down to your mouth level.
HEADSETS – VOLUME
Mobile phone’s listening volume should be at about 50 - 75% to provide the best listening audio quality.
This volume level depends on the model of your mobile phone.
The headsets have a volume knob in the right earphone.
Adjusting the listening volume level of your phone or your headset does not affect the microphone’s recording level.
The recording level is only changed by AUDIO MIXER level knobs.
AUDIOCAST – BEST PRACTICES
TEST CALL WHEN USING THE AUDIOCAST CASE FOR THE FIRST TIME
Make a test call to someone in another room.
The recipient should have the phone volume between 60% - 75% of maximum volume level.
Make sure the test call recipient listens carefully for your sound to break or get distorted.
Speak continuously for about 30 seconds. Use loud and soft volume to test if the sound breaks
Adjust the microphone levels and mark the knob positions on the mixer panel with a marker pen.
Ask the other person to speak for 30 seconds continuously, with softer and louder volume for you to experience different volume levels.
Adjust the mobile phone volume and your personal headset volume so that both speakers can clearly hear the test person.
AUDIOCAST LIVE
Call in to the conference early enough.
Ask the operator to listen to your sound levels. Speak for at least 10 seconds. Adjust your microphone knob according to the operator instructions
When LIVE, do not speak louder than normally. The microphones are of very good quality and you can speak like you would speak to a person sitting on the
other side of the table.
Remember to tell the listeners and the Audiocast operator when you are changing slides. It is best to mention the current page number you are on.
Do not follow the Audiocast slide changes on the web! The streamed audio is delayed for about 30 seconds for the stream connection stability reasons.
The audio and slide changes are synchronized.
Try to avoid rustling printed papers.
AFTER THE AUDIOCAST
Remember to be very careful when packing up the case.
Make sure all cables are safely inside the case before closing it
AUDIO MIXER – other settings just in case
Only the volume should be adjusted as explained above.
All other settings should be left to presets.
Below are the basic settings in case the mixer needs to be reset:
